How to Launch a Boat From a Trailer
Saturday, October 10th, 2009
Before you go boating, ensure that the engine is in top operating condition. Check the gas and oil and make sure the battery is charged. Try starting the engine. If it starts, shut it off right away as the engine is cooled by the water. Now it is time to get your boat to a lake and in the water. Launching a boat form a trailer is fairly simple when you follow the proper procedures.
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
Step 1
Find an entrance ramp on the lake.
Step 2
Back your trailer down the ramp until only the hitch is out of the water.
Step 3
Unstrap your boat completely. Pull the release handle on the ratchet on the front of the trailer. Once this is released, unhook the hooks on the front of the boat.
Step 4
Turn on your boat engine. Have a friend shift your boat into reverse and increase the accelerator.
Step 5
Push on the front of the boat until the boat reverses off of the trailer and into the water.
